What would happen if the movie "The 6th Day" was real?

Personally up until recently I didn't have a problem with cloning, but as I thought about it, I'm not terrible comfortable with it.

If a close relative, whether it be a husband, wife, son, daughter, dad, or mom, was dying of a fatal disease, would you have them cloned? To me, I just don't know. The clone would truly just be a grown organism that is technically the same as the original person, but they would still be something that was grown in a lab to look like your relative.

Just think about it, if your spouse were cloned, would you still trust them? Physically they wouldn't have gone through everything that you have throughout your relationship, but emotionally they would be the same person.

What do you think?

I think cloning should be fine as long as the clones are just babies, if they come up with a way to hatch full grown humans and then encode them so that there's a 2nd version of yourself at the same age running around, that wuld be bad.

However, it does raise some intersting ideas on the subject of immortality.

6th day isn't that far off...they're already doing human cloning experiments overseas in an undisclosed location, scientists from around the world are working together on this...kinda scary and in a way messed up, cuz animal cloning required more than 100 tries before getting it right or close to right, and even then there's only Dolly the sheep...all others have since died after a few years...so that's well over 100 carcasses...now think about that with human cloning...*DOH*...over 100 carcasses from repeated attempts...

i know that Texas A&M (i think it was A&M) has experiments going on to perfect animal cloning, an anonymous donor couple wanted their dog to be cloned and donated approximately 1 million for research, they project it'll be done by next year (2002), after that if things go well they project charging around 100k+ for pet cloning, then in several years they predict it'll drop to about 20k...

so yea...we're not that far from the movie in regards to cloning...scary stuff....

I would love to have another of me to do my work and stuff, and to donate an organ if i needed one. However, he should have an abort switch to let me kill him easily if need be.

Also, don't you want a clone of that hot girl that you just saw? just take a piece of hair, it doesnt even matter if she knows or not or if she thinks you are a jerk. Then, you could make the clone your slave and all that............
