What would happen if I get a Volcano

Ok, I have an XP1600+ non-overclocked with the retail heatsink/fan. My idle CPU temp is 43C. If I get the Volcano 6 Cu (not 6 Cu+), what would my idle temp be? I just want to see if I can justify buying a Volcano 6.

thanks,
don

43C is fine. AMD's whitepaper for the XP processors says the maximum die temperature is 95C, so I don't think you are in the "worry zone". Idle temperature doesn't mean a whole lot anyway. If you don't plan to overclock IMO the only thing you'd gain by getting the Volcano is the ability to say you have the Volcano. And from reviews I've seen of that HSF, it's likely your temp won't drop anyway - it's not that good of a heatsink.

Well this isn't exactly answering your question but...
I have a volcano 7 on an XP1600 not overclocked and my idle temp is 32C. I have it in an antec 1040 with four panaflo 80mm fans (2 front, 2 rear). And I just used some generic thermal paste from a local pc store. Maybe could drop it one or two Degrees with some quality as2.
