What would get you checking out a jobs website?

What would it take for you to visit it?
Post your resume?
Search for jobs?
Apply for jobs?

Are you an "active candidate" (currently interested in looking for work) or a "passive candidate" (currently employed, not currently looking at all, not thinking about looking)?

Where do you hang out, on the net and in real life, that somebody would be able to reach you with information about a new job board? Where would you have to get that info to make you pay attention to it?

What, as a passive candidate, would it take to get you to think about switching jobs?

Getting me to visit would be easy... I'm curious. Getting me to stay would involve growth, activity, and numerous listings.

The main thing I get annoyed with on most job boards is the lack of salary information in the job listings. I realize this is an option for the company/person posting the job listing, but it leads me to lose interest in the job listing. I think a job board that required a salary range in each listing would get much more activity from job seekers.

I think it would be great to have all the functionality of something like monster.com (post resumes, search jobs, apply online, etc).

I'm currently a passive candidate. I have my own business but I keep an eye on the market, listings, and current salaries.

I would not give up information about my personal 'net hang-outs on a job board. I don't want prospective employers lurking on the forums that I post casually at. I believe in keeping those two aspects separate.

To get me to give up my business would take a salary significantly larger (probably 50% more) than I currently earn through my business.

Oh, definitely! I'm more curious about where your hang outs are as far as having banner ads, etc. Ways for you to find the job site, not ways for the recruiters on the job site to find you.

hmm, if you were only running jobs in certain industries, then you'd want to advertise on the big name websites of that industry. Like here (anandtech) for computer nerds.

The most active website I visit is anandtech. I also visit asp.net for information about coding.

Ads on google.com and gmail would go far with a lot of people.

I visit my own forums most frequently but I don't allow advertising on that site and it doesn't have that much traffic anyway.
