Now that's out of the way what would an actual, city-destroying monster look like? Clearly in movie magic land you can always just say 'lol it's from space' but that's not what this little exercise is about.
The best I could think of is something akin to a cross between a T-Rex and U.S. Godzilla. Two huge, super powerful hind legs with a massive bone structure with two much weaker front legs/arms. It's feet would have to be positively enormous but clearly it would crush the first few layers of topsoil at the least. Maybe it could or would have a long armored head and snout/tail and most of it's damage would come from running and smashing, stomping or thrashing it's tail.
