What would cause your ears to be more sensitive to bass?

I put my headphones (Koss TD-61) on today and the bass in the music was much more pronounced than it has been. Nothing's changed in my Winamp EQ that I can tell...I have a cold today so my ears might be a little plugged but I don't remember this ever happening before. I did load an "Analog Media Devices Driver" yesterday from the WindowsUpdate site, but I can't see why that would mess with my EQ.

I dunno, but whenever I get in my friend's car, his sub is turned up way too much, the damn thing hurts my ears, but he likes it. Then he complains about going slightly deaf in one ear...
