What would cause my camera to do this?

Hey AT!

I have loved my olympus e-10 since the day it came into my sweaty hands, and occasionally it gave me quite a scare, as I was shooting picture it will randomly produce a picture with the colors all off with weird green and blue pixels:

for example

If anyone knows what is causing this please let me know asap! perhaps all it needs is a new firmware (I hope)

Ooof, I don't know. You could try upgrading firmware, but I'm thinking it's finally reaching the end of its useful life, at least without any kind of repair. I think this may be something you need to send the camera in for. Or maybe upgrade time?

hmmm ok - is there a pattern with the ISO settings or the white balance? Actually any sort of pattern at all (outdoors, bright light etc. etc.) or a higher frequency of occurrence?

most shots I take are outdoors, those were in a soft light situation, all the time they mess up they always become that weird blue green pixelated.

That would have been my next suggestion :) I've gotten a ton of noise (and bad shots) on high ISO's, you might also want to try taking a pic at a few different ISO's - outside and see if you can duplicate or get a similar effect.
