What would cause flashing and like a corrupt screen I guess

Like when using my internet browser Firefox all of a sudden the screen would flash to a black screen come back but it would all corrupt. It is hard to explain. Hasn't happen sense going back a image but still I would like to know what could cause it please? Thanks.

Could be software related. Viruses or corrupt drivers might cause something like that.

most likely hardware culprits would be video card, connector, cable, hard drive or monitor.
Maybe run a program with SMART functionality to check hard drive health.

I usually use speedfan, since it can also monitor temperatures.

is this IGP or a dedicated videocard?

If its IGP, it could be a number of things.
If its dedicated videocard, your card maybe dying.

Could just be a bad/flaky HDMI cable. They do that sometimes. Though, generally, you're not left with on-screen corruption. That speaks more to VRAM issues, either your RAM is bad or timings are off (with an iGPU), or your video card is overheating / underpowered / bad cooling. Can be caused by a flaky PSU too, in the case of a dGPU.
