A dirty or scratched CD can do it. XP Home CDs are famous for doing that for some reason. I've had two of them go bad that way so far.Originally posted by: Socio
I am trying to re-install WindowsXP Home and keep getting different corrupt files each time I attempt to boot and install from CD.
What would cause the files to be corrupt?
Thanks

Exactly. I have personally seen error messages about corrupt files during an xp install that were caused by a cpu overclock that was not 100% stable, by memory that was not 100% stable, by a bad cd, by a bad cd drive, the list goes on.
If your cpu is overclocked, slow it down to default speeds. Run memtest overnight.
