I'ld like to get a cell phone but I don't have any clue about the package (provider/plan/phone) I should look at.

My needs :

- Basic plan (max $40 a month)
- Some free minutes (like 300-500 should be enough)
- Free phone (best bang for the buck)
- Most of all a RELIABLE NETWORK.

I'm living in Central NJ and don't travel much (mainly northeast).

So, based on your experience (and I know you do have a lot of it), what package should I consider ?

Thank you guys :cookie:

I'm in Central Jersey, and I'd get Verizon. I think they're cheapest plan is $40. Almost everyone has Verzion in NJ, and therefore you don't use your minutes when talking to them.

Are you on a family plan, or is this just for yourself? Will you be making any calls outside of your calling area? How much do you talk? Text messaging?

Single plan/phone.
Not into messaging.
The only ppl I know/could call are located in NJ, so almost zero out-of-state calls.
Use = out of home phone / occasional

I have Cingular and I've found that the coverage has been excellent since they bought up AT&T Mobile. If you're not going to be talking all that much, would 450 mnitues a month be sufficient?
