What would be the hardest two candidates to choose from for you?

Which two contenders from opposite parties would present the toughest decision for you to make?

For me it would be Huckabee vs Obama. Huckabee edges out though because I like that he is no taxman and opposes the current tax system, while Obama would likely increase taxes. But it would be a really tough decision for me.

How about you?

McCain/Obama.

I've always been a McCain fanboy, and I can forgive some of the more political moves he's made, but I like Obama a lot too.

and I know it's a lame reason, but I'd feel kinda like a DB voting against the man who could become America's first minority president.

Ummm wait? are you saying the two who would provide the hardest to choose from or the two that would be the hardest because they both suck???

Since there is virtually no chance that I vote Democrat my hardest choice would be if a Republican I don?t like gets the nomination.

Hmm, good point- I forgot to specify. I really meant it like two favorable candidates whom if they ended up being the two nominees would present the hardest decision for you to make.

There really aren't very many candidates that aren't terrible, and I can't think of any acceptable choices for both sides that would be hard to choose between.

If the Republicans nominate Thompson, McCain, or Guiliani, and the Democrats nominate Hillary, however, my choice would probably be to move to Canada.

Obama vs. McCain would be a tough choice because I feel that both have character traits and positions on the issues that I agree with.

I'd rather poke my eyes out with my own fingers than be forced to choose between Hillary and Rudy...

I hope you're right.
I'll have to have a better look at Thompson. Not done much research on him to date.

I wouldn't count Rudy out yet.

McCain's leading in the national polls, but Rudy's got the money.

if the Republican party hasn't coalesced around a front runner before super tuesday and the field is still a giant clusterfuck, Rudy has a pretty good shot at doing very well on super tuesday.

the delegates from NJ, NY, and Florida might very well push him over the top.

I'd be torn on that as well.

I have never voted democrat in my life, but if Obama got the nomination, there would only be 1-2 republicans that could keep me from voting for him.

WTF does he have to believe in that universal healthcare crap though????

Because it appeals to the hard left which he needs.

That said, none of the candidates are perfect. I don't agree with a single one of them on every issue.

Hillary and Rudy, easily. Most of the others I could be ok with.

If it comes down to those two (which I highly doubt, as others have alluded to) then I'll vote Libertarian.

I think that some sort of universal health care has large support. The problem is scope and who runs it. I wpuldn't want another Medicaid program, because independent of costs I see how badly it's implemented. I have no reason to believe that Uncle Sam would do a better job. On the other hand if there was a catastrophic insurance program I might get behind that, again depending on how it's done. No one wants to find themselves laid off without insurance and find themselves ruined by a serious illness.

A larger question people ought to ask is given a choice between a scoundrel who supports their agenda, and someone who seems to be reasonably honorable and honest but does not, who do you choose? For the larger good of the nation, I'd have to pick the second. Like you, none of them work entirely for me. I think what we need as a nation isn't someone with a particular "to do" list, but one who we can respect even if their ideals don't dovetail with ours.

There is no ideal or perfect candidate for me, however, the only Republican who I would consider voting for is Ron Paul.

I disagree with him on many of the issues (social security, education, environment, the fed), however, his stance on personal rights as well as cutting pork spending, is something I agree with VERY strongly.

My top candidate is Barack Obama. I do not really know how well I feel about his stances on foreign policy. I dislike his stance on gun control. (though it is not one of my top issues.) I don't like that he voted for the patriot act. I also don't know how honest he will be in reguards to catering to the interests of the industries (lobbyists) rather than to the needs of the people.

So, I think the hardest two candidates would probably be Ron Paul vs any other Democrat besides Obama, because if it were Obama in the running he'd get my vote.

I like your answer the best so far.

For me, the hardest to pick between could be Kucinich/Edwards, because both are committed to the restoration of more power to the public and less to corporations, or between Edwards/Obama because Edwards has the better ideology, but Obama has the people skills to be able to make large changes, if he will make good ones.

I agree that Obama/Paul would be the toughest choice for candidates I like.

The candidates I dislike most are probably Clinton/Guilliani or Romney. All of them are pandering and slimey, at least slimier than the rest. I think you can measure political figures on a degree of sliminess scale right?
