What would be the best way to setup wifi at a 10 building apartment complex?

I am wanting to setup wifi so that all the tenants can have high-speed access. There are approximately 125 apartments in 10 buildings. I would like to know what kind of internet connection (T1, CableX?) would be enough for these as well as what wireless protocol (B,G,pre-N) should I go with to cover the most area with fewer routers etc.

I am also going to hook up a coffee-shop hotspot area as well.
