I'm on my fourth RMA'd MB (spare - another thread/forum) and the latest one sent works except for the onboard sound.
I've tried different versions of the sound drivers, enabled in BIOS, and so forth. The MB will detect the connection, but I have been unable to get any sound out regardless of what I do.
I've RMA'd this thing too many times, it's just not cost effective to keep doing it, so I'm looking for a good cheap sound card. This will be for my daughter's computer, and she primarily just uses it to play the Sims 1/2, and maybe SimCity.
Normally, I would just go with Creative Sound product, but I know they can sometimes be tempermental, and I'm getting tried of fooling with this thing.
It looks like I can pick up one of the following at Wally-World in the price range:
Diamond Xtreme 5.1
Creative Audigy SE
Diamond Xtreme 7.1 / 24bit
Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1
Anyone have comments from experience with these?
