What would be some good games for me to get later this fall?

Alright, i currently have for the PS3:

Assassin's Creed
Call of Duty 4
Far Cry 2
Fallout 3
inFamous
LBP
MGS4
Oblivion GOTY
Orange Box
Resistance 1: Fall of Man

For the Xbox 360 i got:

Battlefield: Bad Company
Burnout Paradise
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 4(yes, i have it for both systems)
Call of Duty: World at War
Chronicles of Riddick: Assaut on Dark Athena
Fable 2
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Halo 3
Prototype
Resident Evil 5

So as you can see, i'm a huge shooter fan, with a liking towards RPG/action games as well.

I mainly want longer games seeing i'm a college student and would rather not blow $60 on a 7-hour game, as on shooters i tend to play through once or twice and then not look back UNLESS it has a good co-op multiplayer that doesn't allow the host to kick you at will.

I also rented GTA 4 for the PS3 and hated the driving and the camera was too clunky for my tastes. Saints Row 2 was funner but i don't really care for "gangsta" games. For sandbox games i prefer military stuff like Far Cry 2.

So with all that in mind, what should i get later this fall when i get some money?

if you want JRPG, maybe check out Atelier Rorona for the PS3. It's definitely not like Fallout, but if you played any of the previous Atelier series on the PS2 or Gust games for that matter, you should be familiar. Only difference is Gust is finally doing 3D!!!

I would say White Knight Chronicles, but off the top of my head, I think it's a short RPG.

Depending on you're tastes here's what I'm looking at:

Forza Motorsport 3 (if you're at all into driving games, get this!)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Tekken 6
Bioshock 2
Assassin's Creed 2
Mass Effect 2

There's literally a metric ton of games coming out this fall/winter. I'll probably end up with just Forza 3 and Modern Warfare 2 for now, Tekken 6 I'll definitely pick up later and the rest I dunno when I'll get to.

Forza 3 for sure has me the most excited though.

You've made an enormous error in not playing Uncharted for your PS3. At this point you could probably find it used for a reasonable price. At least rent it. Uncharted 2 is coming this fall. Not sure how long it will be though, but at least play the first one and see what you think. You should also consider looking into the Ratchet & Clank games (PS3). They're platformers with a heavy emphasis on 3rd person shooting with crazy weapons. The first game came out a couple of years ago so should be available used and the sequel launches this fall.

You may also want to keep an eye on Borderlands (360/PS3). From what I can tell it's an action RPG with an emphasis on shooting. It's also supposed to feature drop in/out 4 player co-op, so it may be exactly what you're looking for if it turns out well.

I rented Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of destruction and liked it(in fact played all of the PS2 ratchet games) and may rent Uncharted, but the problem is they're short games and i don't like buying short games unless they're REALLY good, like COD 4 or Halo 3.

Yeah, the plethora of games coming out this fall is going to be a challenge to sort through. I don't feel like spending $600+ on games this fall.

That's understandable. At least rent Uncharted, it's a very good game. And I'm sure the new R&C will be worthwhile rental this fall as well.

Uncharted is one of the few PS3 games that I really feel I'm missing out by not getting to play. Moreso than MGS4 probably.

All I know is, I'm going to be broke once fall is over. I'd say for PS3, Uncharted 2 is the big one. Dirt 2, Little Ninjas, Il-2 Birds of Prey are on my list.

When I had my PS3, I did not care for Uncharted or Assassin's Creed. Too repetitive for my taste, how many buildings can you climb and etc. Same bots walking around and scenarios, the cut scenes and graphics are great though.

Uncharted reminded me of Tomb Raider and would like it better if it was first person.

You should give Mercenaries 2 a try, but only if you can find it cheap. It's awful... but so very awesome at the same time. It's not what you'd call "award winning" or "ground-breaking"... but it's pretty much what you'd get if you crossed Battlefield:BC with GTA:VC.

Coincidentally, I have a spare copy for 360 I'd be willing to part with for a fair price. ;)

i have bioshock for the pc and didn't particularly care about it, guess i didn't give it much of a chance though. I've quit PC gaming though, but inb4 pc gaming is better than consoles.

i'm not interested in batman or other superhero games as they aren't my thing and they tend to be mediocre at best anyway.

uncharted and short games like that are what i consider rentals, and i'm definitely looking at IL2 Birds of Prey. WW2 flying games(that are good, something Blazing Angels isn't) like Secret Weapons over Normandy are one of my favorite game genres, so are the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games. too bad arcade aerial combat games don't come out more often.

MW2 is definitely a must-pick up for me.

20 hours of fun and 60 hours of driving up hills, I assume ;)

You're talking about Far Cry 2, I assume ;)

so in addition to this falls Xbox 360 and PS3 games, what would be some good XBOX 1(that are Xbox 360 compatible) and PS2 games to pick up? May get a ps2 if theres a way you can get it hooked up via an HDMI port via a component cable-to-HDMI converter if such a thing exists.

Already have Halo 1 and Fable 1 via Xbox 360 market place.

Have you looked at left 4 dead? I'm not a big fan of the FPS genre, but even I thought this game was great.

I have a question, is it possible to get some sort of converter that will allow you to hook up a PS2 to an HDMI port?

check out: XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA Box and go from there, play-asia.com, I'm sure there's a direct HDMI output in another model, but I just happen to remember this one because I wanted to hook it up to my computer LCD.

it upscales if I remember correctly

but really, why do you want it connect to HDMI, when composite/RCA would be fine? it might even look worse if you try to convert it to HDMI

because I'm using an HDMI monitor, which doesn't have composite/RCA ports
