We're getting ready to move and need to figure out how to set up the internet access in our house. Basically, what all do I need to share the high speed internet in 2 rooms? Both are PC's...one will be an older computer still running on Windows 98. Will there be any compatibility issues to worry about? Can someone link me to reliable/affordable products on Newegg that will accomplish what I'm looking for? Networking obviously isnt my fortay, so I have little idea as to what I need in regards to routers or hubs.

Should be relatively easy even for someone with no experience. Look for good package deals, I recently got one for a Dlink wireless router (DI-524) and wireless Networking card (NIC).

Read some of Jack's Primers on setting up a basic home network. Basically you're going to take the connection from your broadband modem and go to the router. One computer is connected directly to the router with a cable. Install the wirelss NIC in the other computer and you'll be all set. Most routers have very simple setup configurations that make them virtually plug and play.

I recently set up a simialr network in my house, one computer runnig XP, the other Win98, no problems with compatibilty etc. Wirelss internet usage was easy, setting up for file sharing etc was a little more time consuming but is not hard.

If you already have arouter, then all you need is an access point.
