The 380x or Polaris 11, though I'd say Polaris will probably not debut under 250$ IMO.

Well, I am not exactly limiting myself to amd. I am still a bit ym shick my I5 2500k and 7870 taheti lasted so long

I have the R9 270 rebrand of the 7870 (which I thought was Pitcairn rather than Tahiti) and am also in the market for an upgrade. The 380/x and GTX 960 wasn't enough of a performance increase over the R9 270 for me to justify the money.

I was considering the R9 390 or GTX 970, but am sitting tight waiting on the Polaris (490/x) and Pascal (10x0) announcements and/or price cuts on existing inventory.

Wait another 2-3 months for GTX1060/1070 and Polaris 10 R9 480 to launch go evaluate the market. You will have a choice between new cards and discounted GTX970/980/390/390X.

I also recommend that you overclock the processor as a stock 2500K 3.3Ghz is starting to become a bottleneck in many modern games with cards like 390/970 and above.

Or swap it for a 2600k. I got a huge boost from that.
