Hey
This would be used in the windows environment for the most part. Surfing, messing around and stuff. Probaly to play a few games too, maybe a lil UT, or Q3, etc.

V3 is better for UT, but for the most part they're about equal. V3 probably has a little bit better 2D engine.

With a small fan on top of the stock heatsinc(like a 486 fan) you can o/c the v3 to 166/166 and beyond easily.

I run an tnt2 with 32 meg, and it runs everything just as well as my roomates v3. I also have 256 megs of ram and he only has 192. So, I don't know how much that factors in, but good luck indeciding. I personally would go with the tnt2 only because they now own 3dfx. Might run out of driver support down the road, no that Nvidia's current driver support is anything to brag about...

another thing to consider is since 3dfx went bust it will be hard to get new drivers. that can be a problem when new games come out :)

i'd go with a voodoo3, the 2d image quality is amazing(especially compared to this MX i'm using now) but the lack of driver support may leave you high and dry

Voodoo3 has much better 2D than the TNT2, and in terms of speed their pretty close, though the TNT2 supports 32bit color in 3D which the V3 lacks.
Also, you won't likely see any more "official" Voodoo3 drivers with 3dfx gone, though you may see a few thrid party V3 drivers.

I personally think the V3 is the better card but... driver updates are going to be hard to come by.
It's up to you to decide how big of a factor that is.

Another point in favor of the V3 is that it tends to o/c quite well, better than the TNT2 in my experience.
If your at all concerned about having nice 2D than the V3 is the clear answer, though if 3D is more improtant to you than the TNT2 may be the better option.
