What would be a good thesis topic in regards to computers and new trends?

My sister-in-law who lives outside of the USA needs this for her thesis.

Any links to your suggestions would be good.

Thanks.

how about "morse's law" which is not really a law, but a conjecture.

obviously the size of chips will reach a level since matter is FINITE in size. so the continuity of 1/2 the size of transistors is not going to happen indefinitely.

optical technology, optical gates, etc

quantum computing, (quantum mechanics prolly required)

I concur with Mday - the current speed of doubling processor speed (somebody got lots of money for creating a "law" that said this was true) every six months will not be sustained indefinitely. There are promises, however, of new technologies that will continue the trend longer than initially anticipated. Is this law so encompassing that it will include these new technologies? Will everything fit into place perfectly, all ruled by this simple law? Personally that's what I'd do.

I would be extremely angry if researchers were content to meet the expectations of Moore's Law or whichever one is currently true. To think that we strive to an arbitrary measure!
