What would be a good MINIDISC PLAYER to get primarily for RECORDING?

My housemate is a music major and he needs a minidisc player primarily for recording (portable) that would later be brought to the PC for playback... any advice?

The R909 might be a bit of overkill, unless of course your friend has a high quality mic that it can take advantage of. The recording quality will depend largely on the mic, so you can't leave that out of the equation.
