What would ATOT DO??

ok, so they get in shipments of monitors where I work...they come with standard monitor cables, and also the digital DVI-D cables too....only problem is no computers at the office have DVI-D ports....so the cables just sit there in the store room......if it was you, would you grab one for yourself, seeing as how no one at the office is ever going to be able to use them?? All the computers there are less than a year old...I'm shocked they don't have the digital connection ability on them.

don't take anything... well... maybe some post-its 😛

seriously. no

just get some cables in FS/FT... 😛

let us count the thieves

thieves are winning... 5-2 ooh this is a Human Resources NIGHTMARE!

if you ask and only borrow it, then it isn't stealing

so just ask the IT guy if you can borrow one to test out your rig. bring it back as soon as the IT guy asks for it back

You need a cable, they have hundreds laying around that they have no intent to use? Why not just ask the IT guy (or whoever is the "owner" of the cables) if you can have one?

ATOT would say no to theft, then proceed to steal one anyways without telling.

LOL well the way I look at it, they're going to sit there. forever. they're not getting new CPUs anytime soon.....seems like a waste to me.

But what if you are the IT guy?

Do you give yourself permission to take the cable?

Most IT departments collect so much junk that they most likely would be glad to give you one or two. Just ask.

I would ask, if I needed just one. But I'd probably ask for every one of them and give them to a buddy of mine to sell. I used him when we were, um, getting rid of our IT inventory. Good times. If that's a no, I'd offer to split the profit.

Go into all the best buys in your area and put a sticker behind the cases of their $50-120 dvi cables telling them they're getting ripped and you'll sell the cables for 10 bucks.

The only thing I've ever taken from work was a USB cable... but I asked my boss first. We also have 100's of Power cords, vga and dvi cables.

I agree with those who say to ask. Just ask the IT guy or whoever, I'm sure they won't care, especially if they are just sitting there. But I wouldn't just take one.
