One I can think of - if you want a new videocard, you must sell your TV tuner too. And TV tuners generally will stay in your PC far longer than a videocard. I'd still have a TV tuner in my PC from 1997 or so, but it was based on the bt848 chip, which never got WinXP support. When Win98 was replaced by XP, the card left my PC as well. In that timespace though, I've probably gone through....maybe 7 videocards?

1. Hey, this show seems to use Macrovision, so you can't record it!
Happened with a AIW 7500, on a movie playing on USA. So supreme-court-legal time shifting is denied.
2. Want a new capture? Get a card.
Want a new tuner? Get a card.
Want a new TV output? Get a card.
Now you've replaced the AIW, yet still have it there taking up space, just as a video card, and have to deal with extra drivers and cables--a mess.
3. New OS, no chipset support? Whoops.

Now, if you want something you can plug in and use the featurs of very easily, the All-in-wonders are excellent products. However, like all other things, they aren't perfect.
