what words IRRITATE you when reading restaurant reviews?

I cant stand it when people pollute a restaurant review using the words "gem" and "delish" I blame Rachel Ray for making the use of these two words trendy.

I found this little gem on Yelp! I would've never found it otherwise, it's kind of tucked away off the Main Street of anywhere, USA. I got the chicken fingers and it was delish!

AHHHHHH!

I usually look for "canada" or "canadian" and immediately dismiss anything they have to say on any review sites, about anything.

Delish is brutal. Biggest thing for me is people posting pics of themselves. Just post pictures of the food or the restaurants, I don't want to see your ugly mug; I am here to read about the restaurant, not look at pics of a bunch of troglodytes.

I disregard reviews by lushes. If the review discusses wine pairings or more than one drink with dinner then I assume the reviewer has compromised taste buds.

Can't say that I remember getting particularly bothered at any review, but I do find "delish" and "jelly" to be annoying.

I just don't read reviews myself, we have enough word of mouth from friends we know where the good ones are locally from living here 25 years.

Of course there are other words and phrases I hate but would be off topic.

Next time the wife and I go here to see a band I'm taking pics of the beer and the Pub Burger.

It's the standard there and fantastic and the bands usually are, good beer too, but that goes without saying I guess.

Even if lower content I like the Nitro Stout, you can watch bands all nite and it tastes good, half the time they waitresses don't charge me for a few, I tip well :p

I hate when people say "WORST EVER" or "BEST EVER". That automatically means they are overly excited to me.

I hate it when people complain about good service because they didn't get free food for being an asshole.

"I will definitely be back"
Why do people feel the need to say that? If the review is positive, I would assume you might want to go back in the future.

"paired"
Oh, you pretentious twit.

"artisanal"
People used to say "homemade". We knew how to pronounce that word.

And any reviews written like a bad romance novel. We had a guy in our town who used to write reviews full of stuff like this:
the supple, cubed tenderloin bobbed up and down in the sweet, milky, lightly acidic pool of brown gravy
and
The quivering, ornately presented cylinders of seaweed, rice, and a paste-like roe were bedecked with fanned cucumber. When placed whole in my mouth, what I tasted amidst each opulent morsel's inherently sensual texture were the faint whispers of caviar, foie gras, oyster, and thus...the ocean

"Whenever I go there, I get food poisoning."

"I go there all the time and it sucks"

Shit like that. If that was true, poster wouldn't be going any more.

"Authentic"

More likely than not, you have no clue what the authentic version of a cuisine actually tastes like. Enjoy what you're eating and stop pretending to be a connoisseur.

None - it's their opinion. As long as they aren't baking in other messages (political, etc.), they can use whatever words they want.
