What with NewEggs high AthlonXP prices?

I was wondering that same thing, the OEM Athlon XP 1600 originally listed for $130, now it's up to $152.

I was speaking to another individual about this, and basically, we concluded that AMD and Intel will be relaxing prices significantly next year.

If you're gonna buy, buy NOW.

I just bout my athlon XP from vikingpc, found them in this months cpu and vid card price guide. athlon 1600XP 130 shipped

I can't believe it!

My 1.4Ghz TBird is priced $7 HIGHER than what I paid a month ago...

First time I ever remember feeling like I got a bargain after buying any computer component.

As much as I like low prices, I still want to see AMD in business. As they are losing money right now, a price increase on there higher end cpus is needed to keep them in the game. It appeared that they were pricing the 1.4 tbird with the 1.4 p4, which was the wrong way to do it imho. Now with the XP rating the 1800+ is priced inline with the p4 1.8.

I don't think AMD is benefiting much from the price increase. It looks like the retailers and distributors are the people making the money. I think that there were some increase in demand that the supplies became scarce.
