What wireless internet options exist (mobile computing)

Hey all,

First off, I'm located in Salt Lake City, UT so anything that doesn't work here won't do (although I wouldn't mind hearing about it really).

I have a IBM 600X notebook that I would like to be able to access the Internet from everywhere I go. There are a few options I guess. First is that I will be switching to Nextel service next month when my current contract expires. I talked to them and apparently their Nextel Online Plus ($10/month) will allow you to use the phone as a wireless modem. It doesn't even eat up your cell minutes! Of course, people will get your voicemail when they call you, but that's not that bad IMO. I was thinking of combining that with the AT&T Long Distance + Dialup for $7/month for a $17/month wireless internet access. Only downfall? It's 9.6kbps. Extremely slow by my standards, or anyone's really 🙂

I want to know what else is out there that I can use. If it's only 14.4 though, I probably would stick with the cheaper Nextel-based solution. However, if it's like that Richocet (spelling?) thing, well that'd be very cool 🙂 I know that's coming here, just not when 😉 At any rate, thanks for any information. I did a quick search of the forums and didn't find anything. Cheers!
