What Windows to put on very old Laptop...

A friend of mine got an old Pentium 133 MHz Laptop with 16 MB RAM.
Since his normal pc shorted out (CPU, RAM and mainboard? are gone...)
he has to do with it for the next few weeks...
Just for DSL and some basic computing what would be the best Windows to install?
I would guess Win95b or Win95c?
I'm not sure but all other Windows after Win95 need a lot more RAM....
(otherwise I would tell him to go with winME and turn EVERYTHING OFF)

Yeah, I think the minimum for Windows 98 is 24 MB of RAM...I ran it at that for a while on an old desktop system, and I wouldn't wish that configuration on my worst enemys.

I run Win 95b on a P90 laptop, and it is pretty snappy, but it has 40MB of RAM.

Try the oldest version of Windows you have available. But really, Win98SE would probably be fine, especially for a short time.

coolVariable: The laptop will run best with Win95 but you could limp along on Win98.

win95 will feel faster since the explorer shell is much simpler than in win98, and needs less ram, but win98 is certainly more stable.

another good idea is to try 98lite, which has an option for installing a micro superfast win98 on only 70mb of HD space
