it means that once they get rid of certain hateful aspects of their culture that they will finally redeem themselves in the eyes of their lord and savior Jesus Christ? i dunno though

I've asked people to explain that to me many times before, particularly with emphasis on the 'again' part.

Committing treason is analogous to being a successful and thriving culture and state?

I try not to spend too much time dwelling on the motivations of rednecks, it'll make you depressed.

When people talk about the "south will rise again", they're really talking about social injustice, oppression, and slavery. It very fear based. When rubber meets the road though, none of them are grounded in reality to understand what succession means in modern times. The US military would never secede from the federal government, and all National Guard units would be brought under federal control immediately. All you'd have left in a bunch of overweight, conspiracy theorist ridden white men left thinking the reptilian armies are out to get them. They'd be arrested, forgotten, pitied, and life would go on pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, there is a part of our society that lives in very deep rooted fear, because fear is a great way to blame someone else or something else for why you're being held back. These are the ones who think secession is a good idea.

I'd like to say you're being willfully ignorant, but I really don't think it's a matter of will.

It's all an act. He's a smart guy, INM he went to Hopkins, but is and has been a desperate seeking attention whore since he was a wee teenaged ALTard posting here during Bush's first term. Nothing has changed but his handle. He is the typical first generation America hating coward. This was taught behavior. His folks must be very proud of the asshole they raised...

Well, we may be fearful, but we do know the difference between secession and succession.

Are these guys serious? I thought the question of wither or not States can secede from the Union was settled back in 1865... Reminds me of those guys who are trying to restore the Republic of Texas.

Not forgetting...

I'm a bit ambivalent about seccession (as a general principle. not just for the US), as it happens. (E.g. Scottish independence - really don't have any strong opinion on that either way). Bigger isn't always better. Sometimes the compromises and bodges involved in keeping things together can make things worse. I mean, isn't the electoral college system largely a concequence of deals done to keep the US together in the first place?
