err...hell no! the rest of the world won't just stand watch while the US is gobbling up the world, if necessary i'm sure russia and china will form an alliance and "liberate" those countries.
 
it was more just a hypothetical, and unlikely possibility.

WWI was started b/c of an assasination. There's a "what would you do if GWB got assassinated" thread floating around here somewhere. If it could be proven that N. Korea killed him, I'm sure that would start a major war, but not really a world war, b/c who would intervene? no one. the US would just go an whoop some butt. The most likely chance of a world war starting would be Pakistan/India, or Arabia/Israel, I think. those are two of the hottest areas right now.... what if Russia tried to reunite the USSR? that could cause a major conflict too.

Edit... What if Israel killed him? Get Cheney in power, he's jewish, right?
 
Well the last two world wars were started by an assassination of a national leader and by an invasion respectively. I remember a while ago reading about how China threatened to take Taiwan by force if they continued their separist policies. Plus North Korea is making aggressive movements as well.

Id like to think that NK is being egged on by China so that NK can launch their two or three nukes and get bombarded by everyone else leaving a opportunity window for China who sits by its own weapons as everyone uses their own on NK and whoever joins in the fray. Thats just MHO

I don't see that causing a war. MAD will keep them from doing anything, and the cold war created lots of jobs.

I don't know, but it's not like we aren't closely allied with Israel as it is. What would they gain? Americans might be getting stupid, but if something bad enough happens, I don't see the populace sitting idly by.

You should really work toward gaining a better understanding of history and geopolitics if you think that the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was anything more than just a spark that was the excuse for the start of World War I.

Wasn't every head of state from Russia, to Germany to England related somehow ? All the incestuous marriages overtime within the royal groups and so forth or something. It was like a big game to them. Cousins or something?
 
No one wants war BESIDES Bush and that moron Kim Jong-il (North Korean President).. Iran is getting crazy too.

That guy has huge problems and suffers from superiority complex.... like many of the shorter asians, he walks like he is 10 feet tall, and he has a "pleasure palace" where he keeps hundreds of whores around. He likes to think he is god or something with those 2 inch wooden heels on.

My guess is either one of these situations would be the culprit:
China trying to reclaim Taiwan (China vs. US)
NK restarting the Korean War or going nulear (NK/China? vs. SK/US/Japan?)
Middle east vs. Israel (Europe/US staying sides in that mess)
Middle east vs. Middle east (more likely than Israel vs Middle east, or as a definite aftermath to it)

Do you realize that the biggest market for Chinese goods is the US? We are one of the major driving forces of their economy.

The populace has no choice. Americans couldn't revolt if we wanted to. Hell, we can't even vote...

Politicans can do whatever they want for whoever they want. (big) ~IF~ they get caught, the worst that can happen to them is a hand-slap and a multi-million $$$ book-deal!
