I have a feeling if it did happen it would be a showdown between China and the US. After all they do have a standing army slightly over a billion I heard. Having that much firepower and troops must mean theyre ready for something. What do you think the events and key players would be for such a thing to start? The next World War that could bring on nuclear winter.
 
If there is another world war, there is nothing stopping it from being nuclear... which means it won't be much of a war in the first place...

I think that without the U.N., World War III would have already started between the Arabs and the west.

If everyone was only in the army, they'd have no service jobs and no civilian manufacturing.

Singapore has manditory military duty for 2 years amoung many other Asian countries except China.
 
Most countrys have mandatory military service. On the China issue, the number of soldiers means little towards the outcome of a war against the US. It would be a Air/Sea/ and information war against the Chinese, on which all fronts we would dominate. However the biggest advantage and weakness the chinese have IMO is Russia. Russia is the balance, and their reations to any conflict will tip the scales either way.
Now if the question was restructured to US vs. China and Russia, I think it would be in all of our best interests to apologize and back away.
 
I think a more likely wwiii will take place between the arab world and the western world, as mugsywwiii stated. though I suppose that the possibility always exists of the US doing a power grab, taking over north america completely, and then trying to take over europe, triggering a massive conflict.... though I kind of think the arab/western nations war will be more likely.

That will never, ever, ever happen. That's like saying that Canada will invade Africa. It just doesn't make any sense.

North Korea vs South (and USA)
Israel vs -EVERYONE- in Europe and Middle East more or less
Pakistan vs India
USA vs Iran

Pick one. At least one of these will erupt within 5 years IMO.

Ahnold will lite off a nuke on North Korea to start it all I bet... trust me. They've seen his movies over there.. THEY KNOW he can fvsk with predator like that so WATCH OUT little Kim Dong Il
