What will remove soap scum from glasses?

I found several good quality beer glasses at the back of our cupboard, but they're covered with soap scum from being put in a crappy dishwasher. What product will clean them the best? Vinegar?

i was about to call you a filthy bastage and wondered where you got the soap in order to make your glasses have soap scum on them, you fat pile of crap.

with that aside, i would get out the brillo pad/steel wool and use your favorite non-crappy dishwasher soap.

Bleach, put it in the dishwasher. Jet Dry, stuff works wonders.

I switched to the jetdry powerball/soap combo brick things and all my dishes are much cleaner and glasses are clearer.

Try full strength vinegar,then wash by hand using normal dish soap,like Dawn,etc.

It's not soap scum. The glass has been etched from dishwasher detergent.

There is no way to "remove" it. It's a permanent condition.

No, it's from hard water. White vinegar worked like a charm.

Oh yes, a good brillo pad scrubbing on the glasses will just make them gleam.

I'll have to try that then. We have a bunch of glasses at home like that. We have a water softener that seems to be working well but I had read an article on dishwasher detergent etching glasses. Older formulations were the problem, the new stuff doesn't do this.

Here my dishwear is never affected but my shower and sinks need a spray of CLR/LimeAway type stuff every couple months. Normal cleaners do not pentrate the calcium/whatever minerals.

I can't beat my rent though right now, plus a safe and nice place to live and save for a house...
