What will my new mobo go up to???

Ok i have yet to even install my new asus a7m 266 mobo and was wondering what it goes up to the dip switches on the mobo go up to a 1.66ghz but do you think it could autodetect higher even after a bios upgrade, the reason i'm asking is i'm putting a 1.4 in it and one of my friends said that a athlon 4 should go into the board also and so i was just wondering what it could do in the future.

Your friend said an Athlon 4 should go into that board? Where did he/she get that information. No manufacturers have released boards for the Desktop Athlon 4. I think that a lot of newer boards that are currently available will have new BIOSes made available that will allow them to work with Athlon 4s, but they are not designed specifically for them.
