What will happen if I put my stainless steel CLAD cookware through the dishwasher?

It's cookware, not a piece of artwork! I bought products from the All-Clad Stainless line to cook, not to keep pretty. Who gives an ish about 'keeping it shiny'?! You should see to bottoms of my fry pans...why, they look used!

The idea of putting dishes into the dishwasher still encrusted with food gags me...that has to appeal to lazy housewives (or those who have way too much to do already) or the typical male who dislikes washing dishes, and really doesn't care if they're spotless, just cleaner than when they went in...

I am the same. i "clean" the dishes before they go in.

With a decent dishwasher you wouldn't need to.

Agreed.

There is just no need to wash dishes before you put them in with a good dishwasher. Just throw them in, caked on crap and all and they come out clean.

About the cookware - put them in the dishwasher. They are tools, treat them as such. The only thing I don't put in the dishwasher are my really good knives.

That is about the silliest thing I have read - put clean dishes in the dishwasher! Save some money and the environment and put clean dishes away, washing them twice is just wastful.
