Hi everyone,

I currently use a 6600GT. My monitor is an HDTV with 1360x768 resolution. I was thinking about upgrading to a 8600GT. Would this be a good choice? I don't want to spend too much because I'm guessing prices will drop sometime soon...? Is Nvidia releasing new cards in November or will it just be a paper launch? And will it include a mid-range card or just the flagship model? What will be the successor to the 8600GT? And is a 8600GTS extra money well spent?

The card coming out in November will be the 8800gt, and it looks like it might be $200/250. If you can afford it, I would wait. If not, I would not even bother with a 8600gt, the performance is not worthy for the money. Either look into getting a 1900gt for $100, a 1950pro, something used or at worst an 8600gts open box, for similar mula.

i posted a deal on an 8600gts for $105 after rebate today. that was a pretty good deal.

the 8600gt isnt THAT bad for a monitor only running 1366x768 it should be able to run anything on that.

i have one, which i got on ebay for like $80. its probably about 60% faster than the 6600gt at most games. an 8600gts is probably worth it if its only $35 more. there are some good ATI cards out there.

i would say an 8800gt would probably be overkill for 1366x768 and well he said he didnt want to spend too much money and $200-250 is a huge amount more than the $90 after rebate most 8600GTs go for.
