What were your college years like?

I never went to college (due to some bizarre off the wall religious beliefs I had at the time) and I really regret not having the experience of living in a dorm on my own for the first time and all the other new experiences college life has to offer. Fortunately I'm doing pretty well financially at 31 and I'm almost 90% sure that I'll be retired before the age of 35. But still I wish I had the experience of living on campus and being wrapped up in the collegiate experience. So what was college like for you?

What years did you attend college?

What was the name of your school?

Were you part of any fraternities/sororities?

What was your major/degree?

Do you think your college years made a significant impact on what you're doing in life right now?

You know you are going to get this question: What do you do that allows you to retire at 35? The only thing I can think of is that you own a business of some sort and could sell the business.

To answer your questions:

- 1998-2002 (I'm a young un....hence the above question)
- UofMichigan
- Computer Engingeering
- Yes, it made an impact, though I never really learned much bookwise. I did meet my current GF there.
- Nudity.....we have the naked mile!!....It used to be fun and have a huge turnout in 1998-2000, but since then has proved to be a non-event due to clamping down by the university and local police. Ah well..

Retired before the age of 35????? Really?????

I went to Ohio University from 1997-1999, then transfered to the University of Dayton and graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Only fraternity that I was involved with was the engineering honors service frat.
College life had no impact on what I'm doing now. It was just a fun time.

College was great.

I went to a school out of state because I wanted to get away and to try life on my own. I had never had a beer in high school but at college I was getting drunk every other day. Of course, that didn't mix well with my grades and I had to buckle down when I realized that I couldn't skate through all of my classes. I had two great room-mates, Mike and Steve, who were my best pals. I still see Steve about once a month now (no one knows where Mike is, I'm afraid that he got drunk and drove off of a cliff or something).

Yeah, I went to school to learn but what I got out of it was some really fun times. My job now has nothing to do with my major (Political Science) but at least I have the degree. I wouldn't trade my college time for anything.

What do you do now to be so well off?

I attended from 95-99.
Mount allison university in Sackville, NB
No frats
BSc psychology
Undoubtedly they did, although at face value a psyc degree doesn't match up to IT

Overall I liked university. It kicked the pants off of highschool and anything prior, and I'm even happier in life now that I'm out of school. Oh and I met mrsskoorb there too. My younger brother went to same place and met his longterm GF there also (he graduated this year).

I went to ITT, which really isnt a college, although I got an associates the first year it was available at that school. Didnt have a big school atmosphere, but we certainly made the most of it.

I myself am not much different from when I went to school. Not married, and no kids.

college is pretty much a haze.

-stories with nudity...
i'll bite on this one.

i delivered pizza to a factory once. i had to wait in the guard booth for the person inside to come get their pizza. these two girls were in there. they were visiting one's husband who was the guard on duty. so while waiting the single one reads my name tag and says "graham....thats a cool name?" i say "thanks" and just make small talk while waiting. i leave and that was the end of that. im comin home from a friends house around 2am and the ppl in the apt above me just moved in...(this is months after the factory delivery) were hangin outside . i hear "GRAHAM! GRAHAM!" i said "do i know you? " it was the girl from the factory, i realized this after some explanation. so i go up there and drink some beer with 5 chicks and just hang out. one of them was pretty hefty (well all of them). they start asking me about bra sizes...i make a guess about her size. im way off. she proceeds to flop one of them out, flop being the operative word and hold beer cans under it. i was floored and rather disgusted, but it was pretty funny.

thats about the strangest one. the rest are just drunk ppl hanging out on the roof above a porch naked. skinny dipping at apt complex pools and whatnot. my friend was on some hallucinogens on his birthday and streaked down my street and ended up partying @ some guys house down the street after they gave him a towel.

I went from 1997-2000.
I studied CS at University at Buffalo.
Wasn't part of any frat.
The biggest impact college had, was that it taught me that I HATE programming. Which eventually led to me quitting the whole BS IT game.

I really wasn't too interested in university. I just got done with 14 years of school, the last thing I wanted was 4 years more, that I have to pay for. At that point, the dot com and tech boom was going strong, and my skills were in need. So school was not very high on my priorities.
The best part was the social life.
Being a poor ass college kid sucks.

One of my roomies, Steve, had a really, uh, husky girl that was always after him. One of the house rules was that if she ever called that we were to NEVER EVER let her know that Steve was home or give him the phone.
So I made it my mission to get him the phone every single time that she called. I always said it was his mom calling.

I was married, worked full time and went to school nights for almost the entire duration.

When I was at USU (unmarried) I'd drive down to Salt Lake and sneak in my GF's window and spend the night with her.

Why is the whole IT game BS?
Well, to me it is. It may be a great game to others. I grew up with IT and computer stuff all around me since I was like 6, so it developed as a hobby. When you do your hobby for work, you quickly begin to loathe it.

Bascially, after the market crashed, to keep my job, I was to take a 1/3 pay cut, and take on the responsibilities of 3 other people.
After doing that for a while, I said F that, and resigned. From then on out, my pay scale kept decreasing while my skill set kept increasing.
I didn't go through all this trouble to crap money.

So, I quit IT, went on to real estate, and real estate law. Now I'm making twice as much money as I was before, for less work and hassle.
On top of that, I don't have to deal with schmucks who can't use technology.
