I live in MI and have been to Gaylord a few times. It's a nice little up-north type town, though I don't think I would want to live there. I'm a big city type of guy.

As hard as it may be to believe the word "gay" had no relationship to sexual orientation in the not very distant past.

It's a pretty common name actually. There is a Gaylord convention center in Orlando (i think a hotel too, not sure), and there is a company called Gaylord that makes shipping materials.

And there is Gaylord Faulker :p

I'm sure Hell's had the same meaning for a while ;)

I think there is one named that in Montana as well. Oddly enough they both freeze over most of the winter.

i think Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch is funnier. Or how about the Thai translation of Bangkok, Krungthepmahanakonbowornratanakosinmahintarayudyayamahadiloponoparatanarajthaniburiromudomrajniwesmahasatarnamornpimarnavatarsatitsakattiyavisanukamphrasit ?

People have associated the word gay with homosexuality for a while. Marvin Gaye would get teased about his name when he was a child in the 1940's, back when his name was Marvin Gay (no e). He changed it to avoid that association.
