What week did they start locking Durons/Tbirds ?

Just picked up a D600 week 26 that is Unlocked ! Was wondering what week did they start locking them ?

I'm not sure, but.. I have a week 26 Duron 600MHz as well and it's been the best one I've had so far. What color is your core?

I guess week 27, because that's what I have and it was locked.

I have a week 24 locked, so they must have done it incrementally.

As far as I know, all Durons are green (well, aluminum at least).

How can you tell what week your Duron is? I'm assuming it is written somewhere on the die? Also what are the two colors for the Duron die and which one is unlocked or whatever.

Most Durons are green. Some are slightly different colors due to a slightly different polish or because of a reaction to the heat.

The CPU's week can be found on the die. Its on the second line.
Example:
AKAA0022BPMW
This would be a week 22 from the year 2000.

I guess I was wrong when I said my Week 24 was locked. My week 22 is locked. My roommate's week 24 TBird 700 is unlocked. Weird.

Thanks for the info. I checked mine and the die is a blue-ish green. Like a teal. I dont know if this is green or blue or whatever, but probably green. It also seems that I have a week 31 duron 700. Is there anything special about it I should know about it? I did the pencil trick and will get some lockite (sp?) when I get a chance. I'm at 950 (9.5 x 100) now at 118F w/ full load from Seti@home for 6 hours. Still need to get some more fans.

I've got a duron 600 and it says it's week 37 on mine. It's got the blue core and it overclocks to 1000. The L1 bridges are cut, the guy I bought it from connected them using the pencil trick for me.
