Hi,

I am thinking about buying a webcam. I don't know a whole lot about them. I am looking at two different brands of webcams, logitech and creative labs. Do you know about their performance or have any opinions on the two different brands of webcams? I don't want to spend a lot of money on a webcam, but I do want quality and something that will last me for a while. I have only usb port 1.1 would that make any problems on the performance of the webcam.

The models of the webcam that I am looking are:
Creative Labs Webcam (PD1001) USB $24.99
Logitech QuickCam Express $23.99
Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 $64.00

Which one do you recommend? The main use for this webcam is to talk to my families and friends over the internet, for sending live images and also for taking still pictures.

My system is:
AMD XP 1800+
MSI KT3 Ultra
Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM
ATI Radeon 8500LE
:)

Forget the cheap cams if you want any picture quality at all. The 3000 takes decent images for a webcam, as do a few other CCD cams, but they'll be similarly priced.

You could make do with a cheap one for now, perhaps, and later on get a real digital caqmera for stills.
