Three years ago I bought a VCR the only time I used was to tape the World Cup 2006 games.

Same here, mine finally died probably about two years ago.

Also I bought a Dell Axim x51v (Pocket PC) last fall, spent like $500 on the thing....never once used it after the first few days. Luckily I was still in the return period when I realized I'd never use it and got a full refund.

he can just sell it as used. you think the buyer will know it's stolen?

Although I love my HDTV, I think it'd qualify as a "bad" buy. I paid $1700 on a TV with a retail of $900-1100, thanks Aarons Rentals. It also only has 1 DVI input, 1 Component input, and no HDCP.

Actually now that I think about it, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to electronics. I don't do research on something till after I buy it, and I never learn. So it's almost always a bad buy, unless it's #2 of something.

Headset with the band that goes around the back of your head instead of on top. Good at crushing your skull and giving you a headache.

I would have to say ipod mini. It still is going after almost 2 years but the battery life sucks.
After a total of 4 hours at the gym (that's about 3 days worth) I have to recharge it.

All of the cellphone accessories.

It seems I end up buying these accessories thinking that they will make life easier but they are pretty much useless or inadequate: handsfree headsets, car dash docks, belt clip/holsters, etc.

No, just kidding, I had the foresight not to buy it :p

Last electronics purchase that I mght regret was a cell phone on ebay that I nearly got scammed on. That was about 2 months ago, credit card company finally refunded me the money yesterday, although I had to ship it back to him out of my own pocket. Small price to pay for a refund.

The worst tech purchase I ever made was buying a Toshiba e740 PDA. It was unstable as hell, the WiFi connection was a pain in the ass to configure, the battery life sucked, and it had a bad habit of crashing and reseting itself back to the factory configuration. After reinstalling all of the applications and customizing my settings for the fourth time and losing them, I gave up and sold that lemon on eBay.

Also, buying the kit lens with my Canon Digital Rebel XT wasn't a good idea. Great camera, but medicore lens.

Hmm, seeing as how I never make bad electronics purchases, I can't remember any.

Although, I regretted buying my PS2 and sold it on ATOT a month or two after. Mountains of RPG games don't interest me, Mario, Master Chief, and Link, do.

I'm really tight on electronics buys, so I haven't made any real bad purchases....so far

now computer purchases, that's another deal alltogether.

ATI HDTV tuner card, the software really made it difficult to use, and I couldn't get it working with anything else that was free.

O sure, do you mean your garbage?

That settlement was only for 3rd generation iPod's, which is a pretty low percentage of all the iPod's out there now. Most folks have the 4th generation (click wheel, color screen in later models) iPod, 5th generation (video) iPod, iPod Mini, iPod Shuffle, or iPod Nano.

You must work for Sandisk or Creative :)

Slightly agree on this one. Hardware is working great right now but I remember it took duration of one week to do a proper install and researching on the net why the drivers are just sooo buggy.

I don't work for neither. The settlement covers 1st to 3rd gen ipods. (which might included some of the mini). Its cover a load of ipod populations before the 5th gen come out.

80% of people that I know have problems (battery or just died after extensive use) with their ipod (3rd gen or before). Not sure how the new ones fare - only time can tell.

$59 for battery replacement, the old price was $99- 30%-50% of what the ipod cost. Aside from the looks, theres just not much about it.
