What's the best score you've gotten?

I am psyched about the road bike score I just got from an eBay auction hosted by a local pawn shop.

$620 after 10% IE9 ebay bucks back

Moser frame - CF fork, CF seat stay
Ultegra Brake
Dura-Ace STI shifter
Dura-Ace Front and Back Derailleur
Dura-Ace pedals
FSA SLK Carbon Crank
Cannondale Fire Handlebar and stem
Easton Orion II Wheelset
Bontrager Race Lite X seat post
Selle Italia Gel Seat
Vredestein tricomp tires
Arundel CF water bottle cage

17.5 pounds with pedals. :D
eBay auction link

The bike is in really good shape. Got some miles on it, but very well taken of. When I took the bike to the LBS for an inspection/tune up, the guy was in shock when I told him how much I paid for it. He even joked that I should keep the bike indoors in case the original owner is still looking for it :sneaky:

I bought a Specialized Big Hit 3 in 2006 for 900 dollars. It was 2004 model. The bike originally cost 3000 dollars.

Got it for a steal because it was only ridden once as it was one of guy's competition back-up bike.

Potter's wheel for 5$ from my dad's jail, needed to be sold for something so 5$ was the agreed upon number. Brand new, used maybe a handful of times, worth well over 1500$ new.

I don't craiglist as much, but mild success can easily be had with nice pictures + down-to-earth descriptions.

*Five years ago, I sold a two-year used 22" LCD monitor for $150. It was new on Amazon for $120.

*Sold a super old P4 dual core (total first gen with two heat sinks) desktop for $250 cold cash. That was 50% of my budget towards my new quad-core Phenom system. I'm using it now.

*Sold GF's once-used Nintendo DS for $100. I guess I felt good about this since the noob GF was gonna sell it to Radioshack for $30 (fucking thieves).

Denon PRA-1100 and POA-2200 in immaculate condition for $110 (CL).
I haven't seen the preamp sell for that little on eBay, so it's like getting the amp gratis.

That's exactly what I was thinking, given the specs.

a 2006 Giant OCR 1 for $500. Carbon seat post, Xero Lite XSR-3 rims (which still spin great), Ultegra 6500 drivetrain, woohoo. It just needs some new bar tape and a name plate and it'll be in great condition.

Yard sale?
Wife got a C.H. Shearer painting for $100. Sold for $3K. IIRC, the guy was "famous" in New England.

I bought almost $5k of ophthalmic lenses for $300 bucks but realize later that the seller was dying of cancer. I got a great deal but was kinda sad after the transaction.

Best pawn shop score I ever landed was a 1973 Fender Twin Reverb. It was the 100 watt model that had the "pull out" master volume pot. Silver face amp. It was bone stock, even still had original tubes in it.

I plugged it in, and everything worked on it in the shop. Once it got home, the reverb quit and I think it was wired to only work with one speaker (which is why some of the power tubes were pulled and laying in the bottom of the amp).

I bought it for $200 at a Sol's Jewelry and Loan in Omaha and sold it on eBay for $800 as-is. The guy bitched about it so I gave him a couple hundred bucks back for repairs, so I still made out good on it. I wish I would have just repaired it and kept it.

In 1985 I found a 1978 Les Paul Custom with a rare blonde finish at a consignment shop. I asked if they would take $550, and the seller actually agreed! I played that thing proudly until 1992, when I got disgusted with music and packed it up. It sat under my bed for two years and then I sold it for $1200 to pay for quarterly tuition at college.

I started playing again in 2001 after a bit of an epiphany, and have been kicking myself in the ass ever since. I've since replaced it with a 2005 Standard Faded Les Paul, but it's not nearly the same thing.

*sniff* I hope it has a good home :(

Back in 1996 I found a DAT Walkman for $40, like new. MSRP was $489 or so.

Found a new Polo wool turtleneck at TJ Maxx for $7...MSRP was like $169.

In around 2004 I bought a NES game for $7, absolutely mint except for the shrink wrap. Sold it for a bit over $92. These days, it would go for like $400.

In around 2002 I bought a broken Sega CD for about $10. Opened it up and found a Lunar disc, worth around $20. Only thing wrong with the Sega was a loose wire. Didn't make much money, but it was fun and satisfying.

NES game? Did it happen to be the "illegal" version of Tetris that wasn't Nintendo-approved? That game was at a local game shop and was selling for about $100 a few years (probably around the same time you sold it).

Wow, damn. Even I'm pissed at you for selling that! I personally would love an LP...
