What was up with McCain wandering around the stage

During last nights debate, did anyone else notice that McCain was wandering around the stage when Obama was answering a question? It really looked like he was totally lost, wandering around the stage.
I am not commenting on my ideas of his mental state, just asking a question.

Same, most of the time it appeared he was scribbling something down while Obama was talking.

It might have been that he stood up to talk when the timer light went off and Obama was talking over. The man's old but I'm not willing to label him one of those confused old men wandering around just yet.

The fact is that his handlers put answers on the floor on red pieces of paper and he was walking around looking for answers.

I wasn't trying to put any spin on this at all, just wondering if anyone else noticed it. I believe he could be seen walking around in the middle of Obama's answer, does a small circle and heads back to the chair. I don't think the red light flashed yet, I do think this was in the middle of an answer. I just found it odd.

I noticed it too and thought that alzhiemer's had kicked in. I was thinking that it was a good thing that he was indoors and not near the woods. :)

I also noticed that he wrote with a sharpie. I thought that was kind of strange.

When? Next week? In two months? In two years?

Anybody get the creeps with JM's trying to channel Ronald Reagan? That bit he was doing seems to me from a few minutes in for the next 45 minutes where he was semi-whispering, as if he had ahold of one of your ears? I kind of think they had him watch hours of video of Ronald Reagan and told him to try to channel his character.

I noticed it. I don't really know why. I don't care much either, but it did stick out a few times. A little distracting I guess.

He had a sharpie in the first debate, could be the pen of choice, it's bold so it's easier to read from a distance. He mentioned something about 'this old pen' or something like that in the first one and displayed a sharpie. I wonder if their sales when up or down?

Anyone notice BO scratched his head 5 times during the debate while John McCain was talking?

Thanks Tech, although it may be true, I think it would be polite and respectful to remain seated during the other candidates turn. Thanks for playing.

I didn't notice that but I did notice a tendency to stare into space while smiling and blinking rapidly when Obama attacked him.

Polite and respectful? Maybe he wanted to seem interested and engaged in the debate, wanted to seem energized and not just dragging through it. It's not like he stood up and grabbed the mic from Obama.

Well if he wanted to appear interested and engaged, it would probably be best to look at the person talking, at least that's what teachers told me, that you needed to look at the person to aid in your actual listening. Active listening, not wandering. And it wasn't directional, also, at the end of the wandering he can be seen pointing to himself and going back to his seat.
That doesn't seem very engaged, it seems lost.

Whatever, guess you're just actively looking for things to criticize him about. This seems rather stupid and petty, and I'm surprised it made enough of an impact on someone to make a thread about it.

I guess having a potential leader of the free world look lost during a national debate is petty. You're right, I feel so ashamed.

Slow news day? Come on, there's better material out there than this.

You're right, and I asked about peoples feelings/ideas about persuing alternative energy. Senator McCain wandering around the stage while Senator Obama was answering a question seemed odd, so I asked about that too. It seems to be a question others are asking on other boards as well. This isn't about the bailout, or the war in Iraq, or even illegal immigrants, it was a simple question about a simple act.
You don't have to comment, unless of course, your news day is slower.
