What was the program that lets you remove a bunch of useless crap from Acrobat ?

I find that installing Acrobat itself, rather than reader, speeds things up INSANELY.

I can't even begin to tell you why.

you have to pay for that tho don't u ?
Reader is free.

I didn't know you needed a program. What I heard was that you just move most of the plugins to another directory so the program doesn't load them when it starts. I think only three of them are absolutely necessary.

yep, that is correct. copy the original plugins directory, just in case.
the only plugins you need are EWH32.api, printme.api, and search.api.

LOL, I just tried that and Reader went from taking 8 seconds to load to taking... like 0.5 :Q

Thanks 😉 I assume it Acrobat would tell me if I need a plugin for anything that I'm trying to do and it isn't there.

kranky is correct:

1. In Windows Explorer, go to the folder where the Acrobat Reader program resides. This is normally located in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader
2. Double-click the plug-ins folder.
3. Highlight all the files and subfolders in the plug-ins folder by pressing <Ctrl>+<A>.
4. Deselet the EWH32.api and Search.api by holding down the <Ctrl> key and clicking on those two filenames.
5. Press <Ctrl>+<X> to move the selected files to the Windows clipboard.
6. In the left-hand column of Windows Explorer, click the Optional folder.
7. Paste the files to the Optional folder by pressing <Ctrl>+<V>.

^^^ what about the printme.api?
I havn't tried it without it yet..

yep, same thing for me, it improved Acrobat Reader load time greatly! everyone at work loved that tip!
