My last books:
The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (all 6 books)
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Looking for a new book. I've heard good things about Assassin by Ted Bell.

What have you been reading?

The Salmon of Doubt - Douglas Adams' posthumously published book. It's not a novel, but rather a collection of his writings and what there is of an unfinished Dirk Gently novel that he'd said he wanted to change into a Hitchhiker novel.

I'm sorry. I read about 400 pages into that thing and quit. It was just too fscking scatterbrained to keep my interest.

The Silmarillion. I've read it a few times before, but I picked up a nice hardcover copy of it and read it again.

Oh, as far as me, I just wrapped up Clancy's Rainbow 6 the other night. Don't know if that is considered a "good" book, but it was entertaining.

Before that was Pattern Recognition by Steve Gibson. Don't know what I thought of that book.

The Color of Water by James McBride

It was actually a reading assignment given to me by Michigan State before we start classes.
I thought it was gonna be a bore, but it was a really good book.

Point Counter Point, Aldous Huxley. (also recommend Brave New World, but read it ages ago)

Hunter's Blade Trilogy book 2. Sequel to The Thousand Orcs.

Can't remember the name though.

It's been recommended to me to read Brown's "Angels and Demons" if you enjoyed "The DaVinci Code". Have you read A&D before?

Angels and Demons was excellent too. The curious thing is that if you describe either book in general terms in a paragraph, it is a dead on description of the other.

"Our hero is woken in the middle of the night and summoned to solve a curious mystery...."

The two books follow the same basic storyline, but are different enough and well written enough that you won't care - they are that good.

A&D was much better then TDC. Both were somewhat enjoyable because of the trivia, but A&D had more of a gripping story.

They are written very similar & can get boring if you don't enjoy the constant facts being thrown at you. I read A&D first off & have yet to get completely through TDC, simply because it is much of the same thing: interesting facts, without nearly as much detail put into the story itself.
