Assuming usenet doesn't count...
Probably the one for The Independent Newspaper.

Sharky's, I think. Maybe AGN3D? Followed something from one of those to here via hot deals and the WMC's.

A sports forum, almost certainly ESPN.com forums.

And yes - I joined because I was pissed about something (don't remember what), got into some immediate tiffs, and I got my first warning within 10 minutes: READ THE CODE OF CONDUCT BEFORE POSTING, ASSHOLE.

I had done live chat before that but not a real forum. Whatever happed to live chat? I assuming too hard to moderate?

I think it was a TFC forum, I ended up helping to run it and ran my own game server. Fun days, the group had two game servers and a boat load of really great people.

Again, if usenet doesn't count, I think it was AT on geocities or some game forum for Starsiege Tribes.

No idea.... I can only guess the ol [H]ardForum? At this point I forget which was the first I signed up for. H was probably the first I actively participated in a lot.

Then again it was probably some kind of gaming forum first. Maybe a diablo one? Honestly can't remember or place them in a timeline at this point.

Forums? damn newebies... I was logging onto BBS's initially at 300 baud, in the late 70's. Text only, 300 baud was still faster than I could type. Long before AOL or Prodigy services appeared.

Actually met some cool people through them, became a co-sysop on a couple of them. Downloads were via Xmodem protocol, the file transfer for X.25, "don't pick up the damn phone" was the word. Moved up to a screaming 1200 baud Hayes Smart modem, then a 9600 baud, and finally 56K before my first broadband cable at 500K.

My dad took me to FMC in the 80's and showed me big corporate internet. It was an ugly mess.
We used Gopher in the 90's and god damn was that ever awful.

Oh wow, I think it was the QBasic forums. I think that was back in the dial-up days of the late 90's lol.

A bunch of kids in my college class joined this forum in the early 2000's. I lurked for awhile before joining. Turns out it was a slippery slope...16 years & 40k+ posts later, here I am lol.

Mine was probably Toms or athlonoc. That led me to hardocp and here. Nutxo wasnt not my original username here though. First I got harrassed mightily over a hardware opinion in which I was right but the other person was paid off by OCZ to lie and say they had a better product. The sheep here listened to him. There was some sort of crash here and I just started a new account instead of trying to recover the old one.

Probably my EQ guild's forum. I did do some IRC before that though if that counts. Beyond that, probably this forum. I'm more of a lurker.

Probably Slashdot. I have a user ID (and NO, it's not ultimatebob) in the 100,000 range, which means that my account probably dates back to the late 1990's.

I think it was Janime Yu-gi-oh forums. That site is dead now because the German admin nuked the site after internal disputes. Janime, a Thai girl, I guess moved on to other things.
