Dynamic speed increases can be obtained with Firefox's unique prefetching mechanism, which recycles idle bandwidth by silently loading and caching all of the links on the page you are browsing.

Can that be turned off? On campus here, we've got a weekly bandwidth limit. Violate it, and you're struck down to a shared 56k connection for a week, rendering the Internet virtually unusable. (Seriously, it's like 0.1KB/sec average). So this preloading could needlessly waste precious bandwidth.
 
I use the MOOX builds. The last build I have been using for prob 8 or so months has been completely stable and improves greatly over the normal builds.
