How were they dangerous? Did someone lose an eye? :Q I think they died out because they were dumb, devoid of style, and the '80s was an ugly decade. Of course, when I was a kid I didn't care, and always used to slap those things around stuff.

they were dangerous because they were thin, sharp strips of metal covered by cloth. The cloth would wear thin and kids would get cut by them

Haha, I guess I never realized that was metal. That's awesome. Maybe now with the space-age... err... information-age materials we have they can bring 'em back.

Nope. They did bring them back using plastic or something to replace the metal, and they sucked. Not enough snap.
