First off, if you are over 6' tall and more than 175 lbs, you want a bath sheet, not a bath towel. I prefer the softest and most absorbent towel, price is not an object. Bed Bath and Beyond have some fantastic towels, but they are expensive. I paid $90 for a bath sheet, but they are softer than a babys bottom and will stay that way. They absorb water, not just schmear it around. I've had mine for about 18 months and it is just as good and soft now as the day I bought it. If you want the best, you must pay for the best. Make sure to use the 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I've not tried to dry myself with a baby's bottom but ... OK.

You have _one_ bath towel (er, "sheet")?

I still never bought my towels and two years later I still need towels.

That's the thing about towels. They work at something very near full effectiveness, even when badly worn and tattered. I needed towels for years, but the old ones work as well, maybe even better than the new ones. I keep a few of them for camping and dirty jobs.

I don't know, but last time that happened to me I ended up coming home with a few hotel towels.

Everyone likes these big plush towels. I like the thinner cheaper ones. You can fit more in the washing machine at the same time so you end up doing fewer loads of towels.

Oh and yes fresh new towel after every shower. Never use the same one twice. (without washing in-between uses)
