Sorry get confused by numbers. I think it's kind of misleading. Back in the day it used to be 8500 9000 9200 9800 so you would know the 9800 was much better then the 9000. I thought that was the same......

My first preference would be the BFG Geforce 6800GS for $169.99 ($139.99 after MIR) on Newegg. In Stock.
(Alternately, on Newegg, the other decent card I see is an Built-By-ATi X850 Pro for $142. In Stock.

I don't see any X850XTs.

I wouldn't recommend spending any more money on that (~$150) for an AGP card. If this card's performance-class still doesn't cut the mustard, buy a PCIe mobo. That is what I tell most people. The 7800GS seems horribly overpriced.

Why would you get those cards when you can have this which is much faster for 162.00$

I'm positive it didn't show up when I searched it yesterday!

Okay, screw what I said in my previous post! 7600GT FTW!

As far as I Know, the 7600gt is not an option since it does not exist in retail in any quantities in America. Nto sure about asia or europe, I think there may be a few insignifigant numbers floating around but for the most part it does not exist in retail.

That means the x800xt agp si the best value currently on sale(x850xt is discontinued I believe) while the Gainward Bliss cards are the fastest in retail(if yuo are outside of America) and the EVGA is the fastest available in America.

Its true there is a faster card (Gainward) but its hard to come by because they were made in limited numbers and not originally sold in America. Not mention they are very expensive. I went from a ATI 9800PRO 256 card to the 7800GS CO Superclock and the difference was substancial. I highly reccomend the eVGA as far as AGP cards go. PCIe however is now the better way to go if you can afford the upgrade.

The gainward card is obviously not that hard to comeby considering that *I* managed to pickup one. Just buy it from a UK online retailer and you should be fine.

Yuo cant buy them in america. There is the option of international purchase but with it you lose the warranty benefits since sending it in for RMAing would cost so much and would take months.

For a $400 video card, I'd say the price of shipping would be more than worth it. Even 3 years down the road it would be worth it to me, I only paid $15 on shipping anyways..

LOL! @$400 for an AGP card...

$400 for a new AGP card or $517 for a new PCIe video card, motherboard, cpu, and RAM...? Tough choice... ;)

I must agree with you somewhat but....

You forgot the windows xp cd 120.00$
Most likely reformat hard drive. (pain in the azz).

Simple with less hassle solution. Sell high end agp card (x850xt) for 150.00$
Pay 400.00$ for new card. You pay 250.00$ for a system with performance faster then a 7900gt with overclock.no hassle ,plug and play. Play with your agp system till your no longer satisfied with it. Then do a full system upgrade with conroe,g80,windows vista, and a 850watt power supply:cool: when it becomes more mature. Sound like a plan? ;) Both options have there good points.

Edit: how much did you pay for your 7900gtx? Get my point? Remember the gainward card is 512megs memory too. http://www.pricewatch.com/video_cards/991909-1.htm

7900GS if it exists. Else the 7800GS. X850XT PE may compete as well but doesn't have SM3 and HDR.

How much did you pay for your system? Without monitor? 1000.00$ or more?
Well at least your 3d mark 06 scores are higher.

In 6 months when my card starts to struggle with some games,I'll look into a system like yours for half the price and 30% more performance. Then I'll sell my 400.00$ Gainward card for 250.00$ to some guy who has a Dell and a 3.8 pent 4 that can't upgrade to pci-e.:D. To me right now your system is a waste of money unless your doing something other than gaming because theres no real world difference.

Edit : When goku gets his system running he's going to bench his 512meg,24 pipe monster overclocked Agp Gainward card and prove my theory.

You could sell your cpu, mobo, RAM, and video card for more than $150, keep your Windows cd, and then pick up the PCIe parts for ~$520. You could even opt for an SLI motherboard (for a bit more), which would let you drop in a second 7900GT down the road, should you choose to. The point is that it's about options... Options, that by maintaining an aging AGP rig, you do without while paying high end prices for mid-range video hardware.

In response to your question, I paid $440 for my GTX. I would say that the extra $40 is worth the difference between a 7900GTX (650/1600) and a 7800GS (490/1440), and that's if you leave the GTX at stock speeds vs. your OCed GS.

Thats my card 7800gs (490/1440) I paid 280.00$ I was talking about upgrading to the 24 pipe, 512 meg, 7800gs+ Agp Gainward card. This card is a 7800 with a 7900gtx core and slower memory.(which can be overclocked to near or better than gtx speeds) for 400.00$.(cheaper than your 7900gtx pci-e). Here"s the card just scroll down http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Nvidia_AGP_Graphics_Cards.html

Edit: so for 400.00$ I get close to what you have in AGP form right? No reason to upgrade my whole system yet right?:D And I'll sell my 7800gs for say 175.00$ easily? My price to get to your graphics level= 225.00$ and no headaches.

Edit 2: And your cpu is bottlenecked by you 7900gtx now. In fact 2 7900gts's are bottle necking your cpu I think. So why would I need more cpu to game with?

Edit 3: Oh you forgot to upgrade the power supply to for the pci-e system thats another 125.00$. SO thats 520$ and 125$=645.00$ for allmost no gaming performance increase.
Now subtract my 400$ card, and I save $245.00,and the trouble of building a whole new system, reformatting my hardrive, and the chance to upgade to conroe in the future with a gpu that actually stresses my cpu (g80) much cheaper by then, and more performance down the road when I need it.

Buy what you want, I was just suggesting an alternate route that would provide you with more options (now and in the future) and higher performance at only a slightly higher monetary expense and an OS re-install.
