You're right. The toys these days do everything for you and don't allow you the use of manipulatives and personal creativity.

It seems you had some of that available to you when you played with toys.

Now go back 30 or forty years to when kids built toys. It really teaches you how to make your own fun. We built many hands on things that taught us skills and enriched our lives. We built multi-story forts, sailcarts, boats, motorized go carts, live animal traps, ice fishing shacks, giant sling shots and we had fun learning. I wish kids had the opportunity to do that today.
