What was that song (from the early 90's)?

Actually, I'm trying to find 2 songs:

1) The artist that plays the "Boom Boom Boom Boom" song for the TGI Friday's (or Applebees?) commercial (ok, it's been a year or two)?

and (here's a tough one):

2) I remember this song being all over the radio here in the U.S. in the summer of 1994. I just heard the tail end of the song at the end of an episode of "The Outer Limits" (never watch it so I don't know if the song is on there every time or not). The song sounded kinda trance/new age/African chant or something and I remember in the beginning of the song the guy singing "oh I, oh i oh i..." repeatedly (I don't think he was actually saying that, but it sounded like it). LOL, sorry this is really stretching it, but I can't find any info about it on the net :p

Boom Boom Boom Boom = Vengaboys. I've never seen the commercial though. It goes "Boom boom boom boom / I want you in my room / Let's spend the night together / From now until forever" with a nice, happy beat and girly vocals.

don't know the other. But I do remember a song like that. Oh-I-Oh-I-Oh-I...... hmm, now I'm curious.

1) Never seen the commercial, but the first song that comes to mind is Venga Boys' "Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom"

[edit]
Dammit, too slow :(

Nope.

Sacred Spirits -- Wishes Of Happiness & Prosperity

Much better than Enigma imo. :)

He said he heard it in '94 though. I'm 99% sure it was Enigma's Return to Innocence. I even downloaded it to make sure (brings back awkward old memories)

OMG you guys are on the ball tonight! :D

yellowperil, you nailed the second one: Enigma - Return to Innocence. dparker, I'm dloading Sacred Spirits to check it out, but I wanted Enigma more for weird reminiscing ;) Why does that song bring back so many memories of that summer?! Before tonight I had all but forgotten that song.

Venga Boys has the techno version of the song I'm thinking of - the commercial was more country/rock sounding....

BOOM BOOM BOOM LET ME HERE YOU SAY WAY-OOH (BG: WAY-OOH)
ME SAY BOOM BOOM BOOM NOW EVERYBODY SAY WAY-OOH (BG: WAY-OOH)

I CAME TO MAKE YOU SHAKE IT TIL YOU BREAK IT
CARESS YOUR BODY UNTIL YOUR NAKED
BEND YOU OVER GRAB YOUR SHOULDER

PUMP IT FASTER TO MAKE IT BETTER
DIME THE THE LIGHT THEN LOCK THE ROOM
CAUSE NOW IT'S TlME FOR ME TO HIT THAT BOOM

GIRL YOUR BOOTY IS SO ROUND I JUST WANT TO PLAY AROUND
LET ME TAKE YOU ONE MORE TIME I WON'T STOP UNTIL YOUR MINE

PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND ME GIRL AND YOUR KISSES ON MY FACE.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

GERONIMO LOOK OUT BELOW

I JUST FELL FROM THE MOTHER SHIP
OUTHERE BROTHERS ABOUT TO RIP IT ON ANOTHER TIP SLIP
DON'T TRIP OUT HOW I DO IT MALIK IS IN THE HOUSE
I TURN YOUR BODY INTO FLUID AS I COME FROM THE DEPTHS OF DOOM
I SNAP BACK LIKE POW WITH THE BOOM

(REPEAT CHORUS)

GIRL YOUR BOOTY IS SO ROUND I JUST WANT TO PLAY AROUND
LET ME TAKE YOU ONE MORE TIME I WON'T STOP UNTIL YOUR MINE
BUT IF I CANNOT BE WITH YOU MAYBE I COULD HAVE A TASTE
PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND ME GIRL AND YOUR KISSES ON MY FACE.

(REPEAT CHORUS)

I JUST FELL FROM THE MOTHER SHIP
OUTHERE BROTHERS ABOUT TO RIP IT ON ANOTHER TIP SLIP
DON'T TRIP OUT HOW I DO IT MALIK IS IN THE HOUSE

well, that's too bad.... sometimes these commercials have versions of songs that are specific to the commercial and have never been released on an album or anything. let me know if you find it though.... a country/rock version of "Boom boom boom boom" sounds.... freaky :p:D

OK, found it ;) Done by Big Head Todd and the Monsters, the filename I found on Kazaa is "Big Head Todd & John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom".

"I love the way you walk
I love the way you talk
The way you walk that walk
The way you talk that talk
You knock me out
Out offa my feet
Boom Boom Boom Boom
Bang Bang Bang Bang"

I listened to the Venga Boys version again - it's not the same song I was thinking of

Guess they did a remake of the old John Lee Hooker version - the first few files I downloaded from Kazaa were the old version, but eventually I got it. I don't remember ever hearing this on the radio.

The Yardbirds did a great version of Boom Boom in the Sixties

They re-did the JLH original.
