What was so bad about Battlefield Earth?

I actually liked the movie, good scifi. The only thing that is bad about it is the main actor, the one with the long hair, mr fabio. He was horrible. The rest was good.

I really liked the book--but haven't had time to see the movie. It got panned so badly, I doubt I will until I have absolutely nothing else to do. (Which most likely is never)

Uhh dude, maybe since english is your second language the acting didn't seem as pathetic as it did to me. Plus the plot was about as weak as it could be. I mean come on, no way can nomadic tribesmen learn how to fly 300 year old f14's in a couple hours.

those werent f14, they were harriers, most expensive polot training ever. And there are very few that make it, yes that was a bit stupid. But what did you think of id4? that was just as bad but just as entertaining. (actually it was worse, but a bit more fun)

Sorry, I kind of blocked the movie from my memory because it caused so much pain to me. But yes, they were harriers. Anyway, I always thought that willing suspension of disbelief meant that you let it go for a while that you're only watching a 2d image projected onto a screen and interpreted it as a view into a 3d world. Every movie requires a willing suspension of disbelief however mine only goes so far, and tribesmen flying harriers )) is too far. Regardless, didn't those bad slow motion shots of the main character running around with the camera at strange angles give you a headache?

What's bad, preety much everything. The main things would be the bad acting *cough* John Trovalita *cough* and the fact that they stripped so much of the info from the book away. If you read the book you will see how much the movie left out. It was a disgrace, because the book rocked.

The movie may have been bad but it's still revered as one of the '50 Essential DVD's to own' so at least the DVD translation was good.
