Sega had more original games then SNES. SNES just got lucky with all its RPG.

Genesis:

Vectorman 1 & 2
Sonic 1, 2, 3, 3D
Eternal Champions (owns Killer Instinct)
Mortal Kombat (Has real fatality)

though Genesis was more "mature" didnt screw up Mortal Kombat.

Anyway, Sega had better sports titles. They had WSB which pwned all the SNES games.

Mario can't hold a candle to Sonic series.

Vectorman > Donkey Kong

Sega also had better arcade to port transition.

genesis had sonic 1, 2, 3, sonic and knuckles, sonic 3 and knuckles, sonic 3d blast, sonic spinball. It also had Streets of Rage 1 and 2. It also had phantasy star games, which owned the final fantasy series. add to that the overall coolness of the genesis, and you have a system that is real cool.

SNES also had far better hardware specs.

I also couldn't stand their POS 3 button controller compared to SNES' default 6 buttons.. you had to shell out extra $30-40 for the genesis version. Great marketing guys
