What voltage Opteron 170?

I never noticed how high the voltage options on my A8V went!!!!

So..... I don't want to fry the opty.... what's the suggested maximum voltage on air?

1.35 volts is stock and the 1.55v number given previously is a good max for high-end air-cooling. With my dual-core K8 systems, I have usually found that you get better results closer to 1.45v and 1.5v and going past that number just makes the chip run hotter with little added OC'ing capability.

I've been running 1.62v on a scythe ninja for a year. I don't think it starts to fry until the 1.7v range.

Opterons are generally better silicon and can take higher voltages.

all depends on the processor. mine stays at 2.6 from 1.45v all the way to 1.5v. but i'm bringing in a big dog TEC to try at break the wall down. we'll see. water cooling i've seen lots of people at 1.6v and even 1.65v. i plan to take the ihs off which should help the temps. stock amd heatpipe, i wouldn't go above 1.5v.

Well so far I've hit 2.7 on 1.40 volts on the stock cooler. The memory becomes more unstable as CPU speed increases, even when I keep adding dividers. At 2.0 ghz the memory is stable at 200mhz, but at 2.7ghz, my memory becomes unstable unless I knock it down below 200... Currently the memory speed is at 180 mhz. So until I get better memory (not soon) I don't think I'm getting much more out of this. However, I am switching motherboards next week, and maybe the memory will be more stable on a new board.

I think with more voltage and a good cooler, there might be 2.9 in this chip.
